Booklets & Reports

We are all about sharing knowledge and our experiences. Here you find our informative booklets on how to build with bio-construction. We hope you like it.

Guides from building workshops

During the workshops 2017-2018, 6 experimental buildings were constructed. Each represents a different technique and organisation. The guide gives documentation from the workshop, the building technique and how the social building was structured.

BION booklets - 7.jpg

The Learn BIØN – A Handbook Guide for Hands-On Learning from the Building Impact Zero Network was made during our first Erasmus+ project LearnBIØN.

Here we collectively wrote down the common ground for the network, our principals. Our aim is to share knowledge, practices and experiences, in order to contribute to the built environment and to our communities.

#7 Self Building in the Social Field

The purpose of this guide is to enable anyone interested in self-construction to prepare for a future project: as an organizer, participant, beneficiary, neighbour, or decision-maker, in full awareness that material and humans play here in constant interaction.

#6 Design and Build with 0km, Local and Recycled Materials

Design and Build with Ø km (local and recycled materials), a 4 week building workshop in Milan, Italy. During this workshop we built with recycled materials and low tech building methods to suit the needs of the Casa Chiaravalle community.

#5 Design and Build with Rammed Earth

During this workshop we built a small rammed earth library to suit the needs of the local community in Valverde de Burguillos, a small village located in Extremadura, Spain.

Follow-up Reports

During 2020-2022 we revisited our buildings from 2016-2018, and evaluated the work. How has the natural materials aged, how is the community using the structures and are there other key learnings made from our experiments? Download and read out insights.
